  1. Greet and welcome patients, providing a warm and friendly atmosphere for their visit to MercyOne.
  2. Assist patients with registration, insurance verification, and scheduling appointments.
  3. Collect and process patient information accurately and efficiently.
  4. Answer and direct phone calls and inquiries from patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  5. Utilize electronic medical records and other computer systems to input and retrieve patient information.
  6. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  7. Communicate with patients and their families regarding financial responsibilities and insurance coverage.
  8. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure patients receive necessary care and services.
  9. Handle difficult or sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  10. Continuously strive to improve the patient experience by identifying and implementing process improvements.
  11. Stay up-to-date on insurance and healthcare regulations to ensure accurate and compliant processes.
  12. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  13. Handle cash and credit card transactions, ensuring accuracy and security.
  14. Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

  16. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Patient Access Representatives Must Have Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Healthcare Providers, And Insurance Companies.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Insurance Practices: A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Insurance Processes Is Essential For Accurately Registering Patients, Verifying Insurance Coverage, And Explaining Financial Responsibilities To Patients.

  • Attention To Detail: Patient Access Representatives Must Have Strong Attention To Detail To Ensure Accurate Patient Information, Insurance Information, And Billing Codes Are Entered Into The System.

  • Customer Service Experience: Previous Experience In Customer Service Is Highly Valued In This Role, As Patient Access Representatives Are Often The First Point Of Contact For Patients And Must Provide Exceptional Customer Service.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency In Computer Skills, Including Data Entry And Knowledge Of Electronic Medical Records Systems, Is Necessary For Performing Tasks Such As Scheduling Appointments And Verifying Insurance Coverage.
