- Greet and welcome patients, providing a warm and friendly atmosphere for their visit to MercyOne.
- Assist patients with registration, insurance verification, and scheduling appointments.
- Collect and process patient information accurately and efficiently.
- Answer and direct phone calls and inquiries from patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Utilize electronic medical records and other computer systems to input and retrieve patient information.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate with patients and their families regarding financial responsibilities and insurance coverage.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure patients receive necessary care and services.
- Handle difficult or sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Continuously strive to improve the patient experience by identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Stay up-to-date on insurance and healthcare regulations to ensure accurate and compliant processes.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions, ensuring accuracy and security.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Excellent Communication Skills: Patient Access Representatives Must Have Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Healthcare Providers, And Insurance Companies.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Insurance Practices: A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Insurance Processes Is Essential For Accurately Registering Patients, Verifying Insurance Coverage, And Explaining Financial Responsibilities To Patients.
Attention To Detail: Patient Access Representatives Must Have Strong Attention To Detail To Ensure Accurate Patient Information, Insurance Information, And Billing Codes Are Entered Into The System.
Customer Service Experience: Previous Experience In Customer Service Is Highly Valued In This Role, As Patient Access Representatives Are Often The First Point Of Contact For Patients And Must Provide Exceptional Customer Service.
