Job Description

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking an experienced and dedicated Health Unit Coordinator to join our team and provide exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, and excellent customer service.This position requires a compassionate individual who is able to perform in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. The Health Unit Coordinator will play an integral role in providing excellent patient care and customer service by facilitating communication between patients, staff, and the healthcare team.We are looking for a candidate who is organized, detail-oriented, and has a strong commitment to patient care. Responsibilities:

  1. Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Ensure the accuracy of patient records, including medical information, insurance information, and other relevant data.
  3. Answer incoming calls and provide information to callers or direct them to the appropriate staff member.
  4. Prepare and maintain patient records, including entering information into the electronic medical records system.
  5. Assist with scheduling appointments and verifying insurance coverage.
  6. Coordinate with other healthcare staff to ensure timely and efficient patient care.
  7. Assist in the collection of patient payments and ensure accurate billing procedures.
  8. Manage the flow of medical records to and from other medical facilities.
  9. Provide assistance to physicians and other healthcare staff as needed.
  10. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
