Job Description

This role is crucial in ensuring our content is accurately categorized and easily discoverable by our subscribers. As the Manager of Taxonomy, you will play a critical role in organizing and maintaining our vast library of titles, helping our viewers find their next favorite show or movie. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of taxonomy principles, excellent communication skills, and a passion for data and organization.   1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive taxonomy system for all Netflix content, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all platforms.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including content creators, data analysts, and user experience specialists, to establish and implement taxonomy guidelines and standards.
  3. Continuously monitor and update existing taxonomy categories to reflect changes in the industry, trends, and user behavior.
  4. Ensure that all new and existing content is accurately tagged and categorized according to the established taxonomy standards.
  5. Conduct regular audits to identify and resolve any tagging or categorization errors, and implement corrective measures.
  6. Train and guide team members and content creators on taxonomy best practices and standards.
  7. Develop and maintain documentation of the taxonomy system, including guidelines, standards, and processes.
  8. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in taxonomy and information organization to continuously improve Netflix's taxonomy system.
  9. Collaborate with the data team to analyze user behavior and search patterns to improve content discoverability.
  10. Proactively identify and address any taxonomy-related issues or challenges to ensure a seamless user experience.

  • Extensive Knowledge And Experience In Taxonomy Design And Management: A Manager, Taxonomy At Netflix Should Possess A Deep Understanding Of Taxonomy, Including Its Principles, Standards, And Best Practices. They Should Also Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Designing And Managing Taxonomies For Large-Scale Organizations.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: Taxonomy Management Involves Organizing And Categorizing Large Amounts Of Data, Which Requires Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills. A Successful Manager, Taxonomy At Netflix Should Be Able To Identify Patterns And Connections Between Different Data Sets And Effectively Solve Complex Taxonomy-Related Issues.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Abilities: Taxonomy Management Requires Close Collaboration With Cross-Functional Teams, Such As Content Creators, Data Analysts, And Product Managers. A Manager, Taxonomy At Netflix Should Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Convey Taxonomy-Related Information And Collaborate With Different Stakeholders.

  • Experience With Data Modeling And Classification Systems: A Manager, Taxonomy At Netflix Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Data Modeling And Classification Systems, Such As Dublin Core, Rdf, And Skos. They Should Also Have Experience With Implementing These Systems In A Real-World Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Current Industry Trends And Technologies: The Field Of Taxonomy Is Constantly Evolving, So A Successful Manager, Taxonomy At Netflix Should Be Up-To-Date With The Latest Industry Trends And Technologies.
