Job Description

The Northwestern Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Certified Coder to join our growing team in the Medical Records department. As a Certified Coder, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting medical records and assigning appropriate codes to diagnoses and procedures. To be successful in this role, you must possess a comprehensive knowledge of medical coding systems and procedures, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. Our ideal candidate should be a compassionate and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about providing quality care to our patients. Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze and interpret medical records to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
  2. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all assigned medical coding.
  3. Utilize current coding systems and procedures to accurately code patient encounters.
  4. Stay up-to-date on the latest coding regulations and best practices.
  5. Stay current on changes in reimbursement policies.
  6. Create and maintain detailed records of all coding activities.
  7. Provide feedback to other health care team members on coding needs and recommendations.
  8. Resolve coding discrepancies in a timely manner.
  9. Assist in audits and reviews of medical records as needed.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
