Job Description

At Northwestern Medicine, we’re looking for an experienced and dedicated Genetic Counseling Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be assisting our certified genetic counselors by providing administrative and operational support in the day-to-day operations of our Genetic Counseling Center. Our ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player with excellent organizational and communication skills.To be successful in this position, you should have at least two years of experience in a health care support role, either in an administrative or clinical capacity. You should also have a thorough understanding of medical terminology and a commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, but not required. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide administrative and operational support to the certified genetic counselors in the daily operations of the Genetic Counseling Center.
  2. Ensure patient-centered care is provided at all times.
  3. Establish and maintain effective communication between the genetic counselors and patients/families.
  4. Assist with patient intake and scheduling.
  5. Ensure all patient data is accurately and securely maintained.
  6. Assist with research projects and other duties as assigned.
  7. Provide education and support to patients and families regarding genetic counseling services.
  8. Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  9. Stay up-to-date with advancements in the field of genetic counseling.
  10. Adhere to the highest standard of medical ethics and patient confidentiality.
