1. Conduct thorough research and analysis of patent laws and regulations to ensure Novartis' products and technologies are properly protected.
2. Manage and maintain patent portfolios, including filing and prosecuting patent applications, responding to office actions, and monitoring patent deadlines.
3. Collaborate with attorneys, inventors, and external counsel to review and draft patent applications and related documents.
4. Conduct patent searches to assess potential infringement risks and provide strategic recommendations to mitigate risks.
5. Monitor and track patent related litigation and provide support to attorneys as needed.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all patent-related activities and documents.
7. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding of patent-related matters.
8. Stay current on industry developments and changes in patent laws and regulations.
9. Assist with the drafting and negotiation of licensing agreements and other intellectual property-related contracts.
10. Provide support and guidance to junior paralegals and other team members as needed.
11. Participate in cross-functional teams and provide input and recommendations on intellectual property matters.
12. Uphold Novartis' standards for ethical and legal conduct in all patent-related activities.
13. Identify and implement process improvements to streamline patent-related workflows.
14. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
