- Develop and implement radiation protection programs to ensure safe and secure use of radioactive materials in various industries.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and provide recommendations to mitigate potential hazards.
- Lead and mentor a team of health physicists in conducting inspections, evaluations, and investigations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to develop and improve radiation protection policies and regulations.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to licensees and the public on radiation protection and regulatory matters.
- Review and analyze complex technical data and reports related to radiation protection.
- Conduct research and stay current with advancements in radiation protection technology and practices.
- Communicate and present findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with licensees and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and NRC policies and procedures.
- Participate in emergency response and preparedness activities related to radiation incidents.
- Represent the NRC in meetings, conferences, and other events related to radiation protection.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on radiation protection in legal proceedings, if necessary.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of radiation protection programs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Uphold the NRC's mission of protecting public health and the environment through the safe use of radioactive materials.
Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In The Field Of Health Physics, With A Focus On Nuclear Safety And Radiation Protection.
Advanced Degree In Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Or Related Field.
In-Depth Knowledge Of Federal And State Regulations, Standards, And Guidelines Related To Nuclear Safety And Radiation Protection.
Strong Understanding Of Nuclear Power Plant Operations And Emergency Response Procedures.
Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Manage And Mentor A Team Of Health Physicists.
