  1. Provide personalized genetic counseling to patients and their families.
  2. Utilize expertise in genetics to educate patients about potential genetic risks and implications.
  3. Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans for patients.
  4. Conduct thorough genetic evaluations and assessments to determine potential risks and hereditary conditions.
  5. Assist patients in understanding complex genetic information and its implications on their health and the health of their future generations.
  6. Collaborate with laboratory and diagnostic teams to interpret genetic test results and provide appropriate follow-up care.
  7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients and their families to provide ongoing support and guidance.
  8. Stay updated on the latest advancements and research in the field of genetics to provide the most current and relevant information to patients.
  9. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and documentation.
  10. Continuously strive to improve patient care and outcomes through participation in quality improvement initiatives.
  11. Adhere to all ethical and legal guidelines of genetic counseling.
  12. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and provide input to enhance patient care.
  13. Act as a resource for other healthcare professionals and provide education and training on genetic counseling.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Genetic Counseling: A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling From An Accredited Program Is Required For This Role.

  • Certification From The American Board Of Genetic Counseling (Abgc): Candidates Must Be Certified By The Abgc Or Be Eligible To Sit For The Certification Exam.

  • Knowledge Of Genetic Principles And Technologies: Candidates Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Genetic Principles And Technologies Used In Genetic Counseling, Such As Genetic Testing And Interpretation.

  • Excellent Communication And Counseling Skills: Genetic Counselors Must Have Exceptional Communication Skills To Effectively Convey Complex Genetic Information To Patients And Their Families. Strong Counseling Skills Are Also Necessary To Provide Emotional Support And Help Patients Make Informed Decisions.

  • Clinical Experience: Previous Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In Genetic Counseling, Is Highly Desirable. This Includes Experience Conducting Genetic Counseling Sessions, Interpreting Genetic Test Results, And Working With Diverse Patient Populations.
