- Conduct audits of physician coding to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
- Utilize strong analytical skills to identify coding errors and discrepancies.
- Provide feedback and education to physicians and coding staff on coding best practices and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with coding and billing teams to develop and implement corrective action plans for identified coding issues.
- Stay up-to-date on all coding guidelines, regulations, and changes to ensure compliance.
- Maintain detailed audit reports and documentation for review by leadership and regulatory agencies.
- Work closely with other departments, such as revenue cycle and compliance, to ensure coding practices align with organizational goals and objectives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for coding-related inquiries and issues.
- Participate in coding and billing compliance trainings and initiatives.
- Continuously assess and improve coding processes and procedures to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
- Represent the organization in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
- Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in coding technology and practices.

Extensive Knowledge Of Medical Coding And Billing: A Physician Coding Auditor At Orlando Health Should Possess Thorough Knowledge Of Coding Systems, Including Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs, As Well As Relevant Billing Regulations And Guidelines.
Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Certification: Orlando Health Requires Its Physician Coding Auditors To Hold A Cpc Certification From The American Academy Of Professional Coders (Aapc) To Ensure They Have A Strong Foundation In Coding Principles And Guidelines.
Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills: As A Physician Coding Auditor, The Ability To Analyze Complex Medical Records And Identify Coding Errors Or Discrepancies Is Crucial. Candidates Should Have Strong Critical Thinking Skills To Effectively Evaluate Documentation And Coding.
Experience In Medical Coding Auditing: Prior Experience In Medical Coding Auditing, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting, Is Highly Desirable For This Role. It Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Perform Audits And Identify Coding Errors Accurately.
