Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Physician Coding Ed Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our coding practices, while also providing education and support to our physicians.   1. Conduct thorough and accurate reviews of physician coding to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  2. Identify and report any potential compliance issues or coding errors to the appropriate parties for resolution.
  3. Develop and implement effective training and educational programs for physicians regarding coding best practices and compliance guidelines.
  4. Serve as a subject matter expert on all coding-related matters and provide guidance and support to physicians and coding staff.
  5. Stay current on all relevant coding guidelines, regulations, and updates to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices.
  6. Collaborate with other departments to improve coding processes and procedures, and implement changes as needed.
  7. Maintain accurate and organized records of coding audits, education sessions, and other related activities.
  8. Communicate and collaborate effectively with physicians, coding staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely coding.
  9. Participate in coding team meetings and provide insights and recommendations for improving coding processes and procedures.
  10. Continuously assess and evaluate coding practices and make recommendations for improvement to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  11. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and guidelines in all coding-related activities.
  12. Act as a liaison between physicians and coding staff to resolve any coding-related issues or discrepancies.
  13. Provide excellent customer service to physicians and other healthcare professionals, addressing any coding concerns or questions in a timely and professional manner.
  14. Adhere to all company policies and procedures while performing coding duties, ensuring the highest level of quality and accuracy in all coding activities.
  15. Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims and resolution of any billing-related coding issues.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge Of Medical Coding Principles And Guidelines: A Physician Coding Ed Specialist Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Coding Systems, Such As Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs, And Be Able To Accurately Assign Codes For Medical Procedures And Diagnoses.

  • Experience In Educating Medical Staff: This Role Requires Previous Experience In Providing Training And Education To Healthcare Professionals, Including Physicians And Clinical Staff, On Coding Best Practices And Updates.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Convey Complex Coding Information To A Diverse Group Of Medical Professionals And Be Able To Establish Positive Working Relationships.

  • In-Depth Understanding Of Healthcare Regulations And Compliance: A Physician Coding Ed Specialist Must Have A Solid Understanding Of Federal And State Healthcare Regulations, Including Hipaa And Medicare Guidelines, To Ensure Coding Practices Are Compliant And Up To Date.

  • Certification In Medical Coding: Many Employers Prefer Candidates Who Hold A Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Certification From The American Academy Of Professional Coders (Aapc) Or A Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Certification From The American Health Information Management Association (Ahima). These Certifications Demonstrate A High Level Of Expertise And Knowledge In Medical Coding.
