Mechanical Technician

Perform a variety of journeyman mechanical, welder/pipefitter, painter/carpenter trade functions in the installation/removal or corrective/preventive maintenance, repair or modification of facility systems, equipment and components, such as conveyors, compressors, cranes, piping, pumps and valves, etc. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts and specifications in the performance of these duties to ensure system integrity is maintained. In performing emergency repairs to systems, equipment and components, record the as–found condition as well as the repaired condition; investigate operational reports of equipment failure and analyze system characteristics to determine cause of failure and necessary corrective action. Demonstrate and conduct required inspection and testing of equipment and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensure systems are returned to operational conditions. Follow predetermined checklist in the performance of preventive maintenance of facility equipment and systems.
