Job Description

Attention all aspiring editors and book lovers! Penguin Random House is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Managing Editor to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to work with some of the most talented authors and help bring their stories to life. We are looking for someone with a passion for the written word, exceptional communication skills, and a strong understanding of the publishing process.   1. Collaborate with Managing Editor to develop and maintain production schedules for upcoming book releases.
  2. Communicate with authors, agents, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of manuscripts and artwork.
  3. Prepare and distribute manuscripts to copyeditors and proofreaders, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  4. Review and proofread copyedited and typeset pages to ensure adherence to house style and quality standards.
  5. Coordinate with design and production teams to ensure timely and accurate production of book covers and interior layouts.
  6. Manage metadata and other book information in publishing systems.
  7. Conduct quality checks throughout the production process to ensure error-free final products.
  8. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials for book promotion.
  9. Assist in managing and tracking budgets for production and editorial expenses.
  10. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in publishing to continuously improve processes and procedures.
  11. Attend meetings and provide regular updates on project status and any potential issues or delays.
  12. Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, booking travel, and maintaining records.
  13. Act as a liaison between authors, agents, and internal teams to address any concerns or questions.
  14. Maintain open and professional communication with all team members, providing support and assistance as needed.
  15. Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In English, Journalism, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Experience In A Publishing Or Editorial Role.

  • Strong Writing And Editing Skills, With Excellent Attention To Detail.

  • Familiarity With Industry Standards And Trends, Including Knowledge Of Various Book Genres And Markets.

  • Proven Track Record Of Managing And Leading A Team, With Excellent Communication And Organizational Skills.
