Job Description

As a Cancer Registrar at Presbyterian Healthcare Services, you have the unique opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families. You will be responsible for collecting and abstracting cancer-related information from patient medical records and entering it into the state cancer registry database.To be successful in this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of experience in medical records or health information management. You should also be highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent communication and computer skills. Additionally, you will need to be comfortable working with sensitive medical information and be committed to ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collect and abstract cancer-related information from patient medical records and enter it into the state cancer registry database.
  2. Monitor and ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  3. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards.
  4. Develop and implement strategies for optimizing data accuracy and completeness.
  5. Maintain detailed and accurate records of all information collected.
  6. Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure accurate data entry.
  7. Monitor and review reports and databases for accuracy and completeness.
  8. Identify and resolve data entry issues in a timely manner.
  9. Provide support to other departments in the organization as needed.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
