
Cancer Registrar
As a Cancer Registrar at Presbyterian Healthcare Services, you have the unique opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families. You will be responsible for collecting and abstracting cancer-related information from patient medical records and entering it into the state cancer registry database.To be successful in this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of experience in medical records or health information management. You should also be highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent communication and computer skills. Additionally, you will need to be comfortable working with sensitive medical information and be committed to ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and abstract cancer-related information from patient medical records and enter it into the state cancer registry database.
- Monitor and ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards.
- Develop and implement strategies for optimizing data accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all information collected.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure accurate data entry.
- Monitor and review reports and databases for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and resolve data entry issues in a timely manner.
- Provide support to other departments in the organization as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
