  1. Conduct perfusion procedures: Perform a variety of perfusion procedures such as cardiopulmonary bypass, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and autotransfusion, while adhering to established protocols and standards.
  2. Monitor patient vitals: Monitor and interpret patient vitals during perfusion procedures, including blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and blood gases, and make appropriate adjustments as needed.
  3. Maintain perfusion equipment: Ensure proper functioning of perfusion equipment by performing regular maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and seeking repairs when necessary.
  4. Collaborate with healthcare team: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide safe and effective care for patients undergoing perfusion procedures.
  5. Assist with patient care: Assist with patient positioning, draping, and other tasks related to patient care during perfusion procedures.
  6. Document and record data: Accurately document and record all perfusion-related data, including patient information, perfusion parameters, and any complications or adverse events.
  7. Ensure safety and infection control: Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  8. Stay updated on industry developments: Keep up-to-date with the latest perfusion techniques, equipment, and research to continuously improve and optimize patient care.
  9. Maintain professional standards: Follow ethical and professional standards of practice, as well as all organizational policies and procedures.
  10. Train and mentor others: Train and mentor other perfusionists, students, and other healthcare professionals on perfusion techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
  11. Promote a positive work environment: Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by communicating effectively with team members, providing support and assistance when needed, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Perfusion Or Related Field: Prisma Health Requires All Perfusionist Applicants To Have At Least A Bachelor's Degree In Perfusion Or A Related Field From An Accredited College Or University.

  • Certification From The American Board Of Cardiovascular Perfusion (Abcp): To Be Considered For A Perfusionist Position At Prisma Health, Candidates Must Hold Current Certification From The Abcp.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In A Clinical Setting: Prisma Health Prefers Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Perfusionist In A Clinical Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Cardiac Procedures And Equipment: The Ideal Candidate For A Perfusionist Job At Prisma Health Will Have A Thorough Understanding Of Different Cardiac Procedures And The Equipment Used During Them.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: Prisma Health Values Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills In Their Perfusionists, As They Often Work Closely With Other Healthcare Professionals During Cardiac Surgeries And Procedures.
