  1. Collect and prepare blood and other specimens for laboratory analysis.
  2. Ensure proper labeling and handling of specimens to maintain accuracy and integrity.
  3. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures while performing phlebotomy procedures.
  4. Greet and welcome patients in a friendly and professional manner.
  5. Explain procedures to patients and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
  6. Use proper techniques to locate and access veins for blood draws.
  7. Accurately record patient information and maintain patient confidentiality.
  8. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure proper patient care and specimen collection.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure a safe and efficient workflow.
  10. Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and new techniques in phlebotomy.
  11. Participate in training and education opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  12. Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and updating patient records.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification: A Phlebotomist At Prisma Health Must Possess A Valid Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The National Healthcareer Association (Nha) Or The American Society Of Phlebotomy Technicians (Aspt).

  • Experience: Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Phlebotomist In A Clinical Setting. This Experience Should Include Proficiency In Venipuncture, Capillary Puncture, And Specimen Collection.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Which Is Essential For Accurately Labeling And Handling Specimens.

  • Attention To Detail: Prisma Health Values Accuracy And Precision In All Aspects Of Patient Care. A Phlebotomist Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure That Specimens Are Collected, Labeled, And Processed Correctly.

  • Communication Skills: As A Phlebotomist, The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Patients, Colleagues, And Healthcare Providers Is Crucial. This Includes Explaining Procedures, Calming Anxious Patients, And Accurately Documenting Information.
