  1. Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures by obtaining vital signs, reviewing medical history, and explaining the procedure to the patient and their family.
  2. Assist with the setup and calibration of equipment, and ensure all necessary supplies and medications are available during the procedure.
  3. Monitor patients during and after the procedure, assessing for any changes in vital signs or complications and providing appropriate interventions.
  4. Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed by the physician and closely monitor patient response.
  5. Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure a safe and efficient procedure, including communication with the physician, anesthesiologist, and other team members.
  6. Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families before, during, and after the procedure.
  7. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, including procedure details, medications administered, and patient response.
  8. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to prevent the spread of infections and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  9. Participate in team meetings and continuing education to stay updated on the latest advancements and techniques in cardiac catheterization procedures.
  10. Serve as a resource and mentor for other staff members, providing guidance and support in the care of cardiac catheterization patients.
  11. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care and ensure a smooth transition from pre-procedure to recovery.
  12. Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude while providing compassionate care to patients and their families.
  13. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
  14. Continuously assess and improve processes and procedures to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution Is Required For A Rn Position In The Cardiac Cath Prep And Recovery Department At Prisma Health. This Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Handle The Complex And Specialized Care Required In Cardiac Catheterization Procedures.

  • Rn Licensure In The State Of South Carolina: Candidates Must Hold A Valid And Unrestricted Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of South Carolina. This License Ensures That The Candidate Is Qualified To Practice Nursing In The State And Has Met The Necessary Educational And Training Requirements.

  • Acls Certification: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (Acls) Certification Is A Must For A Rn In The Cardiac Cath Prep And Recovery Department. This Certification Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Respond To Cardiovascular Emergencies And Provide Advanced Life Support.

  • Experience In Cardiac Cath Lab: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Cardiac Cath Lab. This Experience Will Help The Rn To Better Understand The Procedures, Equipment, And Protocols Used In The Department, And Provide Quality Patient Care.

  • Excellent Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: Working In The Cardiac Cath Prep And Recovery Department Requires Excellent Communication And Critical Thinking Skills. The Rn Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals, As Well As Think Critically To Assess And Respond To Changes In The Patient's Condition.
