Job Description

The Italian Language Assistant will work with the Italian department which offers a program of beginning through advanced courses to students not only at Scripps but also to students at all of the Claremont Colleges. Responsible for four online conversation sessions (2 sections for Introductory Italian, 1 section for Continued Introductory Italian, and 1 section for Intermediate Italian. Online conversation sessions will be offered in combination with the courses taught by the Italian language faculty. Teach conversation sessions synchronously for approximately 4 teaching courses per week. Provide two hours of online open tutoring sessions per week. Responsible for organizing and promoting cultural activities such as Italian language tables, movie screenings and discussions. Will assist the language department in various activities. All activities will be performed remotely. Active support for the College’s Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity in the performance of job duties.

Job Qualifications
  • Ability to tutor and guide students in Italian.

  • Preferred native speaker of target language or superior level.

  • Bachelor’s degree in foreign languages, linguistics or related field

Compensation
