In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with tribal leaders and community members to promote understanding, respect, and cooperation between the state and tribal governments.   1. Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between the state government and tribal communities.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with tribal leaders, community members, and other stakeholders.
  3. Facilitate communication and information sharing between the state and tribal governments.
  4. Collaborate with tribal leaders and community members to identify and address issues of importance to tribal communities.
  5. Educate state government officials and employees on tribal sovereignty and cultural sensitivity.
  6. Develop and implement strategies to promote understanding, respect, and cooperation between the state and tribal governments.
  7. Coordinate and participate in meetings, events, and conferences with tribal leaders and community members.
  8. Monitor and analyze legislation and policies that may impact tribal communities and provide recommendations to state government officials.
  9. Conduct outreach and engagement efforts to ensure the inclusion and representation of tribal communities in state government initiatives.
  10. Stay informed of current issues and developments affecting tribal communities and provide updates and recommendations to state government officials.
  11. Collaborate with other state agencies and departments to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to tribal affairs.
  12. Maintain accurate records and reports of all interactions and activities related to tribal affairs.
  13. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions with tribal communities.
  14. Represent the State of California in a professional and respectful manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Native American Studies, Social Work, Public Policy, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience Working With Native American Communities And/Or Tribal Governments.

  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Laws, Regulations, And Policies Related To Tribal Affairs And Sovereignty.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Build Relationships And Facilitate Dialogue With Diverse Stakeholders.

  • Understanding Of Cultural Sensitivity And The Ability To Navigate Complex Cultural Dynamics Within Native American Communities.
