Job Description

  1. Maintain a safe and secure environment for young offenders by enforcing facility rules and regulations.
  2. Monitor and supervise youth activities, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  3. Conduct regular security checks and inspections to prevent escapes and ensure the safety of the facility.
  4. Respond to emergency situations and take appropriate action to maintain order and safety.
  5. Build positive relationships with youth in order to facilitate their rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society.
  6. Serve as a role model and mentor for youth, providing guidance and support as needed.
  7. Document all incidents and maintain accurate records of youth behavior and progress.
  8. Communicate effectively with other staff members, including counselors, teachers, and healthcare professionals, to ensure the overall well-being of youth.
  9. Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  10. Uphold ethical standards and professional conduct in all interactions with youth, staff, and visitors.
  11. Collaborate with community resources to provide educational, vocational, and recreational opportunities for youth.
  12. Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns to appropriate personnel.
  13. Adhere to all state and federal laws, regulations, and departmental policies.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve security procedures and protocols to ensure the safety of youth and staff.
  15. Maintain confidentiality of all information related to youth, staff, and the facility.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Correctional Youth Security Officer Job At State Of Colorado Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Shows Basic Educational Competency And The Ability To Follow Rules And Regulations.

  • Background Check And Drug Screening: As A Security Officer Responsible For The Safety And Well-Being Of Juvenile Offenders, A Thorough Background Check And Drug Screening Is Required To Ensure The Candidate Has No Criminal History Or Substance Abuse Issues.

  • Previous Experience In Law Enforcement Or Corrections: Prior Experience In Law Enforcement Or Corrections Is Highly Desirable For A Correctional Youth Security Officer Job At State Of Colorado.
