
TECHNICIAN / Fish Culturist
This position performs the duties required during the hatching, raising and distribution of fish and to maintain the grounds, building and equipment at the Las Animas Hatchery. Conducts wild and domestic spawn-take operations of Largemouth Bass and Channel Catfish including egg disinfection, egg processing, egg shipping, egg/fry picking (electronic and hand picking). Promotes and explains the policies, goals and directions of the Division of Parks & Wildlife by providing tours of the hatchery, answering questions in person and by telephone, providing information to visiting school classes and other interested parties. Perfroms regular inspection, operation and maintanance for various vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Must be willing and able to carry at least 50 pounds.
Three years of work experience in aquaculture, propagating and/or rearing fish, fish culture
Recording of aquatic wildlife data or professional* aquatic research experience is required
