- Ensuring the safety and security of the correctional facility at all times.
- Supervising and providing guidance to a team of correctional officers.
- Implementing and enforcing policies and procedures to maintain order and discipline within the facility.
- Conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with facility regulations.
- Maintaining accurate records and reports related to inmate activities and incidents.
- Responding to emergencies and taking appropriate action to handle any potential threats or disturbances.
- Communicating effectively with both staff and inmates to de-escalate conflicts and maintain a safe environment.
- Assisting in the training and development of new correctional officers.
- Conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback to subordinate staff.
- Collaborating with other departments and agencies to coordinate activities and ensure effective operations.
- Ensuring all state and federal laws and regulations are followed within the facility.
- Maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.
- Continuously evaluating and improving security procedures to prevent escapes and maintain facility integrity.
- Upholding the mission and values of the State of Florida Department of Corrections.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience As A Correctional Officer With The State Of Florida.
Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice Or A Related Field.
Completion Of The Florida Department Of Law Enforcement (Fdle) Correctional Officer Leadership Academy.
Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws, Regulations, And Policies Related To Corrections.
Strong Leadership And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Manage And Supervise A Team Of Correctional Officers.
