Job Description

The State of Georgia is seeking a driven and dedicated individual to join our team as the Director of Health Protection. In this role, you will oversee and implement strategies to safeguard the health of our citizens and promote disease prevention.   1. Develop and implement comprehensive public health programs and policies to protect the health and well-being of the community.
  2. Oversee and manage a team of public health professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure successful execution of initiatives.
  3. Collaborate with state and local government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders to identify and address public health needs and priorities.
  4. Monitor and analyze data and trends related to public health, identifying areas of concern and implementing proactive measures to prevent and control disease outbreaks.
  5. Coordinate and lead emergency response efforts in the event of a public health crisis or natural disaster.
  6. Develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and other agencies to promote health education and disease prevention.
  7. Manage the budget and resources allocated for public health programs, ensuring efficient and effective use of funds.
  8. Stay informed on current public health policies, laws, and regulations, and make recommendations for improvements and updates.
  9. Represent the state of Georgia at local, state, and national conferences and meetings related to public health.
  10. Communicate and disseminate important public health information to the community through various channels, including media, social media, and public speaking engagements.
  11. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for staff.
  12. Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and promote a positive work environment.
  13. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and community partners to promote collaboration and support for public health initiatives.
  14. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the delivery of public health services.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the state government.

Job Qualifications
  • A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Public Health Or A Related Field, With At Least 5 Years In A Leadership Role.

  • A Graduate Degree In Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws, Regulations, And Policies Related To Health Protection And Disease Control.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Develop And Implement Effective Strategies For Preventing And Responding To Public Health Emergencies.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate And Build Partnerships With Other Agencies, Organizations, And Stakeholders At The State And Local Level.
