Job Description

The State of Hawaii is seeking a skilled and experienced Airport Operations Control Unit Supervisor to oversee our airport operations and ensure the safe and timely movement of aircrafts. This vital role requires a dedicated individual with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong understanding of airport operations and regulations.   1. Oversee and manage all aspects of airport operations, including the safe and timely movement of aircrafts.
  2. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines related to airport operations.
  3. Supervise and train a team of airport operations control unit staff, including scheduling and assigning tasks, providing guidance and feedback, and addressing any performance issues.
  4. Develop and maintain effective communication channels with airport staff, airlines, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination of operations.
  5. Monitor and analyze airport operations data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  6. Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of airport personnel, passengers, and aircrafts.
  7. Collaborate with other airport departments and agencies to coordinate and facilitate emergency response procedures.
  8. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve airport operations.
  9. Prepare and present reports to management on airport operations, including any issues or concerns that may arise.
  10. Act as a liaison between the airport and external parties, including airlines, government agencies, and the public.
  11. Respond to and resolve any operational issues or emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
  12. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with all safety and operational standards.
  13. Manage and oversee the budget for the airport operations control unit, including monitoring expenses and making recommendations for cost-saving measures.
  14. Continuously seek ways to improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  15. Serve as a role model and mentor to airport operations control unit staff, promoting a positive and productive work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Airport Management, Aviation Operations, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Airport Operations, With At Least 2 Years In A Supervisory Role.

  • Knowledge Of Federal Aviation Administration (Faa) Regulations And Airport Safety Protocols.

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Manage A Team.

  • Familiarity With Airport Management Software And Systems, Such As Airport Operational Database (Aodb) And Common Use Passenger Processing Systems (Cupps).
