Bachelor's Degree In Environmental Science Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree Is Typically Required For An Environmental Technician Job At The State Of Hawaii. This Degree Should Be In A Relevant Field Such As Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Or Geology.
Knowledge Of Local And Federal Environmental Regulations: The State Of Hawaii Has Strict Environmental Regulations That Must Be Followed, So A Qualified Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of These Regulations. Familiarity With Federal Regulations Such As The Clean Water Act And Clean Air Act Is Also Important.
Experience With Environmental Sampling And Monitoring Techniques: Environmental Technicians Are Responsible For Collecting And Analyzing Samples Of Air, Water, And Soil To Assess Potential Environmental Hazards. Experience With Various Sampling Techniques And Equipment Is Essential For This Role.
Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: Environmental Technicians Often Work As Part Of A Team And Must Communicate Effectively With Other Team Members, As Well As With Government Agencies And The Public. Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, Are Essential For This Position.
Ability To Work In Physically Demanding And Outdoor Environments: Environmental Technicians May Be Required To Work In Various Outdoor Environments, Sometimes In Adverse Weather Conditions. The Job May Also Involve Physically Demanding Tasks Such As Carrying Equipment And Collecting Samples, So A Candidate Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Work In These Conditions.
