The State of Illinois is seeking a Senior Bridge Ratings Engineer to join our team and help us ensure the safety and integrity of our state's bridges. As a Senior Bridge Ratings Engineer, you will have the opportunity to utilize your expertise to evaluate and rate the condition of our bridges and make recommendations for maintenance and repairs.   1. Evaluate and rate the condition of bridges throughout the state of Illinois.
  2. Analyze data and conduct inspections to determine the structural integrity and safety of bridges.
  3. Utilize engineering principles and techniques to identify potential issues and recommend solutions for bridge maintenance and repairs.
  4. Perform in-depth analysis and calculations to determine bridge ratings and load capacity.
  5. Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure that all bridges meet safety standards and comply with regulations.
  6. Develop and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of bridge evaluations, ratings, and recommendations.
  7. Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices for bridge design and safety.
  8. Communicate effectively with other engineers, government officials, and stakeholders to present findings and recommendations.
  9. Lead and supervise junior engineers and technicians on bridge rating projects.
  10. Provide technical expertise and guidance to other departments and agencies regarding bridge safety and maintenance.
  11. Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to bridge ratings and inspections.
  12. Maintain a high level of professionalism and dedication to public service while representing the State of Illinois.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Civil Engineering Or Related Field With A Focus On Bridge Design And Analysis.

  • Minimum Of 7 Years Of Experience In Bridge Design And Ratings, Preferably With A State Or Federal Agency.

  • Professional Engineer (P.e.) License In The State Of Illinois.

  • Proficiency In Bridge Design Software Such As Aashto Lrfd Bridge Design Specifications And Midas Civil.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Make Sound Engineering Decisions And Recommendations.
