
Correctional Counselor 1

- Provide counseling services to inmates within the correctional facility.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for inmates based on their individual needs.
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to address behavioral and mental health issues.
- Collaborate with other members of the correctional facility staff to create a holistic approach to inmate rehabilitation.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of inmate progress and treatment plans.
- Conduct risk assessments and create safety plans for inmates.
- Monitor and evaluate inmate behavior and progress towards rehabilitation goals.
- Communicate regularly with inmates, their families, and outside agencies to coordinate services and support.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in the field of corrections and rehabilitation.
- Promote a safe and respectful environment within the correctional facility.
- Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all interactions with inmates.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to all department policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain a non-judgmental and empathetic approach to working with inmates.
- Act as a role model for inmates, promoting positive behavior and attitudes.
- Collaborate with community resources to assist with successful reentry into society.
- Report any concerns or incidents to appropriate staff and follow proper protocol.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for program improvement.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the State of Kentucky's Department of Corrections.
Bachelor's Degree In Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Or Related Field
Knowledge Of Correctional Systems And Rehabilitation Programs
Experience Working With Individuals Involved In The Criminal Justice System
