- Perform detailed analysis of physical evidence collected from crime scenes, including DNA, fingerprints, and other trace evidence.
- Utilize laboratory equipment and procedures to process and analyze evidence in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain strict adherence to chain of custody protocols to ensure the integrity of evidence.
- Document all findings and results accurately and thoroughly, including preparing reports and presenting them in court when necessary.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other forensic experts to gather and share information related to ongoing investigations.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements and changes in the field of forensic science, and implement new techniques and technologies as necessary.
- Assist in the training and supervision of junior crime lab analysts and other staff members.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Participate in court proceedings as an expert witness, providing testimony and explaining complex scientific findings to judges and juries.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the handling and processing of evidence and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Attend continuing education courses and conferences to stay current with industry standards and best practices.
- Work closely with attorneys and other legal professionals to ensure evidence is properly presented and interpreted in criminal trials.
- Conduct research and analysis to assist in the development of new techniques and protocols for evidence collection and analysis.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders to ensure smooth functioning of the crime lab and timely completion of tasks.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all evidence and procedures in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Bachelor's Degree In Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Crime Lab Or Related Field.
Knowledge Of Forensic Laboratory Procedures And Equipment.
Familiarity With Evidence Collection, Preservation, And Chain Of Custody Protocols.
