- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to effectively convey the state's initiatives and policies to the public and stakeholders.
- Oversee all communication channels, including social media, press releases, website content, and public events, to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
- Collaborate with various departments and agencies to understand their goals and objectives and strategize on the most effective communication approaches.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the State of Minnesota and handle media inquiries and interviews.
- Monitor and analyze public perception and sentiment towards the state and make recommendations for improvement.
- Manage a team of communication professionals and provide guidance and support in their daily tasks and projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key media outlets, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote positive relationships and partnerships.
- Stay up-to-date on current events and legislation that may impact the state and proactively communicate these updates to the public and stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and speeches on behalf of the state at conferences, events, and other public engagements.
- Work closely with the Governor's office and other high-level officials to ensure all communication efforts align with the state's vision and goals.
- Manage crisis communication situations and develop contingency plans to address potential issues.
- Develop and manage a budget for communication initiatives and ensure resources are allocated effectively.
- Continuously evaluate and improve communication strategies and tactics to adapt to changing trends and needs.
- Act as a liaison between the state and the public, addressing concerns and feedback and providing timely and accurate responses.
- Represent the state in various committees, task forces, and other external groups to advocate for effective communication practices.
Bachelor's Degree In Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Or A Related Field.
At Least 5 Years Of Experience In A Communications Or Public Relations Role, Preferably In A Government Or Public Sector Setting.
Strong Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Craft And Deliver Compelling Messages To Diverse Audiences.
Experience Managing A Team And Overseeing Multiple Projects Simultaneously.
Familiarity With State Government Processes And Policies, As Well As Knowledge Of Current Communication Trends And Strategies.
