  1. Provide expert legal advice and guidance on complex tax laws and regulations to state officials, agencies, and departments.
  2. Represent the state in tax-related legal proceedings, including litigation and appeals.
  3. Conduct legal research and analysis to stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
  4. Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and opinions related to tax matters.
  5. Collaborate with other legal professionals and departments to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  6. Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and other parties involved in tax-related matters.
  7. Conduct negotiations and settlements with taxpayers and their representatives.
  8. Develop and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize revenues for the state.
  9. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in tax law.
  10. Ensure confidentiality and maintain ethical standards in handling sensitive tax information.
  11. Mentor and train junior attorneys and legal staff on tax laws and procedures.
  12. Participate in meetings, conferences, and other events related to tax law.
  13. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to tax law.
  14. Collaborate with external agencies and organizations on tax-related matters.
  15. Maintain accurate and thorough records of all tax-related activities and cases.

Job Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School.

  • Currently Licensed To Practice Law In The State Of Minnesota.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Tax Law, Preferably In A Government Or Public Sector Setting.

  • Strong Understanding Of Federal And State Tax Laws, Regulations, And Procedures.

  • Excellent Written And Oral Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Advise And Represent Clients In Tax-Related Matters.
