  1. Assist in preparing legal documents and correspondence, including drafting and proofreading.
  2. Conduct legal research and compile relevant information for cases.
  3. Maintain and organize case files and documents.
  4. Schedule appointments, hearings, and meetings for attorneys.
  5. Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal proceedings.
  6. Prepare and file court documents, such as motions and pleadings.
  7. Attend court proceedings and take notes.
  8. Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and hearings.
  9. Provide administrative support, such as answering phones and managing calendars.
  10. Learn and adhere to legal procedures and protocols.
  11. Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow.
  12. Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may affect cases.
  13. Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.
  14. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to take on new tasks.
  15. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  16. Comply with all office policies and procedures.
  17. Other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: The State Of New York Requires All Legal Assistant 1/Trainee 1/2 Applicants To Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Equivalent.

  • Legal Knowledge And Experience: A Strong Understanding Of Legal Terminology, Procedures, And Documents Is Essential For This Position. Previous Experience Working In A Legal Setting Or Completing Relevant Coursework Is Preferred.

  • Excellent Organizational And Time-Management Skills: Legal Assistants 1/Trainee 1/2 Are Responsible For Managing Multiple Tasks And Deadlines, So Strong Organizational And Time-Management Skills Are Crucial For Success In This Role.

  • Proficiency In Computer Software: Knowledge Of Computer Software Programs Such As Microsoft Office, Excel, And Legal Research Databases Is Required For This Position.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Legal Assistants 1/Trainee 1/2 Must Have Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills, As Well As The Ability To Work Effectively With A Diverse Range Of Individuals, Including Attorneys, Clients, And Court Personnel.
