
Library Development Specialist

- Develop and implement strategies to support the growth and development of public libraries across the state of New York.
- Collaborate with library directors, staff, and community stakeholders to identify and address the evolving needs of library patrons.
- Provide guidance and support to libraries in areas such as collection development, programming, and technology.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify trends and best practices in library services, and use this information to inform decision-making.
- Develop and deliver training and professional development opportunities for library staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Serve as a liaison between the state government and public libraries, advocating for the needs and interests of libraries and their communities.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of library programs and services, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Stay current with developments in the field of library science and share this knowledge with colleagues and library partners.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and national organizations to promote collaboration and resource sharing.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to library services and operations.
- Act as a resource for library staff and community members, providing information and assistance as needed.
- Participate in outreach efforts to promote the importance of literacy and access to information in the community.
- Collaborate with other library development specialists and state agencies to coordinate and align efforts to support library growth and development.
- Stay informed of state and federal funding opportunities and assist libraries in preparing grant proposals.
- Represent the state at conferences, workshops, and other events related to library development and advocate for the needs of public libraries.
A Master's Degree In Library Science Or A Related Field, Such As Information Science Or Education, From An Ala-Accredited Institution.
At Least 3 Years Of Experience Working In A Library Setting, With A Strong Understanding Of Library Operations And Best Practices.
Knowledge Of Current Trends And Best Practices In Library Development, Including Fundraising, Grant Writing, And Community Engagement.
Demonstrated Experience In Developing And Implementing Successful Fundraising Campaigns, Securing Grants, And Cultivating Donor Relationships.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Diverse Range Of Stakeholders, Including Library Staff, Community Members, And Government Officials.
