
Ocean & Lakes Policy Analyst

- Conduct research and analyze data related to ocean and lakes policies, regulations, and environmental issues.
- Develop and recommend policies and strategies for the protection and preservation of New York's marine and freshwater ecosystems.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, environmental organizations, and community groups, to gather input and support for policy initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and propose revisions or new policies as needed.
- Stay up-to-date on current environmental trends, scientific research, and legislative developments related to oceans and lakes.
- Communicate policy recommendations and updates to government officials, stakeholders, and the general public through written reports, presentations, and other means.
- Work closely with other members of the environmental team to ensure coordination and alignment with overall conservation goals.
- Assist in the development and management of budgets and grant proposals for ocean and lakes policy initiatives.
- Represent the State of New York at conferences, meetings, and other events related to ocean and lakes conservation.
- Adhere to all relevant state and federal laws, regulations, and ethical standards in carrying out job responsibilities.
Degree In Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Or A Related Field: A Strong Understanding Of The Science Behind Ocean And Lake Ecosystems Is Essential For This Role. A Degree In A Relevant Field Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Analyze Policies And Make Informed Recommendations.
Experience In Policy Analysis And Development: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Previous Experience In Analyzing And Developing Policies Related To Ocean And Lakes. This Could Include Working For A Government Agency, Non-Profit Organization, Or Consulting Firm.
Knowledge Of State And Federal Regulations: A Thorough Understanding Of State And Federal Regulations Related To Ocean And Lake Management Is Crucial For This Role. This Includes Laws Related To Water Quality, Fishing, Boating, And Conservation.
