
Correctional Officer
The State of Oregon is looking for experienced and motivated individuals to serve as Correctional Officers in our correctional facilities. This is an integral role that involves maintaining control of the facility and ensuring the safety of all staff and inmates. We are looking for candidates who have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations, and a strong commitment to public service. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum 21 years of age, valid driver’s license, and successful completion of a background check. Responsibilities:
- Maintain control of the correctional facility and ensure the safety of staff and inmates
- Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with staff and inmates
- Respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
- Monitor inmate activities and report any violation of rules and regulations
- Conduct searches of inmates and their living quarters
- Provide guidance and counseling to inmates
- Facilitate the resolution of inmate conflicts
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate records of inmate activities and security incidents
- Coordinate with other law enforcement agencies when necessary
