Job Description

The State of Oregon is looking for an experienced and qualified Deputy State Medical Examiner to serve as a key member of our Medical Examiner's Office. The Deputy Medical Examiner will be responsible for assisting the State Medical Examiner in performing forensic autopsies and providing death scene investigations, as well as providing expert opinions on all medical-legal and legal death matters.The successful candidate will be a board-certified Forensic Pathologist with a minimum of 5 years of experience in forensic pathology, including completion of a fellowship in forensic pathology. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is detail-oriented, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the State Medical Examiner in performing forensic autopsies and providing death scene investigations.
  2. Provide expert opinions on all medical-legal and legal death matters.
  3. Maintain board certification in Forensic Pathology.
  4. Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience in forensic pathology, including completion of a fellowship in forensic pathology.
  5. Utilize excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Provide quality and compassionate death investigation services.
