As a Park Ranger Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work in some of the most beautiful and diverse state parks in the country, while also helping to preserve and protect these natural treasures for future generations. We are looking for someone who is dedicated to promoting conservation and educating visitors about the importance of preserving our natural resources.   1. Assist and support Park Rangers in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of state parks.
  2. Greet and welcome visitors to the park, providing them with information about park rules and regulations.
  3. Conduct regular patrols of the park to ensure compliance with park rules and regulations.
  4. Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of park facilities, including trails, restrooms, and picnic areas.
  5. Educate visitors about the importance of conservation and responsible outdoor recreation.
  6. Respond to visitor inquiries and provide assistance as needed.
  7. Monitor and report any potential safety hazards or maintenance issues within the park.
  8. Participate in training and development opportunities to continuously improve knowledge of park operations and conservation practices.
  9. Collaborate with other park staff and volunteers to plan and execute educational programs and events.
  10. Foster a positive and welcoming environment for all park visitors.
  11. Adhere to all state and federal laws and regulations related to park operations and conservation.
  12. Serve as a role model for responsible and sustainable outdoor practices.
  13. Maintain accurate records and reports related to park activities and visitor interactions.
  14. Assist with emergency response and first aid as needed.
  15. Support and promote the mission and values of the State of Oregon and the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Park Ranger Assistant Job At State Of Oregon Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That Candidates Have A Basic Level Of Education And Are Able To Understand And Follow Instructions.

  • Physical Fitness And Ability To Work Outdoors: As A Park Ranger Assistant, The Majority Of The Work Will Be Performed Outdoors In Various Weather Conditions. Candidates Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Perform Tasks Such As Hiking, Carrying Heavy Equipment, And Performing Manual Labor.

  • Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: Park Ranger Assistants Are Often The First Point Of Contact For Park Visitors And Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate Rules, Regulations, And Safety Information.
