Job Description

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor at the State of Oregon, you’ll have the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of Oregonians with disabilities. You’ll provide individual counseling and guidance to help individuals with disabilities set and achieve their employment goals. You’ll need to be able to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including employers, state agencies, and community partners.This is a role for someone who is passionate about empowering individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential. You’ll need to be an organized self-starter with exceptional communication skills and the ability to think outside the box. If this sounds like you, then we want to hear from you!The ideal candidate for this role will have a Master’s degree in Counseling or a related field and a minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities. A background in Vocational Rehabilitation is highly preferred, but not required. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable in disability-related laws, accommodations, and resources; is able to make sound decisions with limited information; and can work effectively with a wide range of individuals. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individual counseling and guidance to individuals with disabilities to help them set and achieve their employment goals.
  2. Work collaboratively with employers, state agencies, and community partners.
  3. Evaluate and assess the needs of individuals with disabilities to provide appropriate services and resources.
  4. Utilize knowledge of disability-related laws, accommodations, and resources to help individuals with disabilities reach their full potential.
  5. Maintain accurate records of all services provided.
  6. Assist in developing and implementing best practices and strategies for working with individuals with disabilities.
  7. Provide support to employers in recruiting and hiring individuals with disabilities.
  8. Participate in outreach activities to educate the public about disability-related services, resources, and laws.
  9. Remain current on relevant changes in laws and regulations concerning disability services.
  10. Develop and implement individualized action plans for individuals with disabilities.
