Job Description

Are you a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual with a passion for using data to drive decision-making? If so, the State of Utah is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our dynamic team.As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the state's data-driven approach to policymaking and program evaluation. You will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex data sets to provide valuable insights and recommendations to various stakeholders. Your expertise in data visualization and storytelling will be essential in effectively communicating findings and driving impactful change.To excel in this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field, and at least 5 years of experience in data analysis.   1. Conduct data analysis using statistical methods and tools to support decision-making and evaluation of policies and programs.
  2. Collect and organize large and complex data sets from various sources.
  3. Develop and maintain data models and databases for efficient data management.
  4. Interpret data and provide actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  5. Create data visualizations and reports to effectively communicate findings and drive change.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data needs and develop solutions.
  7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data analysis and reporting tools.
  8. Ensure data accuracy and integrity by conducting quality checks and implementing data governance practices.
  9. Train and mentor junior data analysts in data analysis techniques and tools.
  10. Collaborate with external partners to obtain and analyze data for research and evaluation purposes.
  11. Utilize SQL, Python, and/or R to extract and manipulate data from databases.
  12. Participate in the development and implementation of data-driven strategies and initiatives.
  13. Contribute to the development and improvement of data analysis processes and procedures.
  14. Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  15. Adhere to data privacy and security protocols to protect sensitive information.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field Such As Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Or Data Science.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Working As A Data Analyst, Preferably In A Government Or Public Sector Setting.

  • Proficiency In Data Analysis Tools And Languages Such As Sql, Python, R, And Tableau.

  • Strong Understanding Of Data Management Principles, Including Data Warehousing, Data Cleansing, And Data Validation.

  • Experience In Developing And Presenting Data-Driven Insights And Recommendations To Stakeholders At Various Levels Of The Organization.
