Job Description

Join the Temple University Athletics department as our new Athletic Strategic Communications Director! We are seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team and lead our strategic communications efforts. As the Athletic Strategic Communications Director, you will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that enhance the visibility and reputation of our athletics program. This position requires a strong leader who is passionate about sports and has a keen understanding of the media landscape.   1. Develop and implement strategic communications plans to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Temple University Athletics department.
  2. Lead and manage a team of communications professionals to execute communication strategies.
  3. Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, including print, broadcast, and digital platforms.
  4. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Athletics department and handle all media inquiries.
  5. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including coaches, student-athletes, and university leadership.
  6. Create and distribute press releases, media kits, and other materials to promote Athletics events and achievements.
  7. Monitor and analyze media coverage and provide regular reports to track the department's public image.
  8. Collaborate with marketing and social media teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
  9. Develop and maintain crisis communication plans and serve as the point of contact in the event of a crisis.
  10. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in strategic communications and implement them in the Athletics department.
  11. Plan and execute media events, press conferences, and other publicity opportunities.
  12. Manage the Athletics department's website and ensure all content is up-to-date and reflects the department's messaging and branding.
  13. Work closely with external partners and sponsors to fulfill communication obligations and maintain positive relationships.
  14. Serve as a representative of the Athletics department at university events and meetings.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the Athletics department leadership.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Communications, Public Relations, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In Strategic Communications, Preferably In An Athletic Or Higher Education Setting.

  • Strong Leadership Skills And Ability To Manage A Team Of Communications Professionals.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Social Media Platforms And Digital Marketing Strategies.

  • Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Athletes, Coaches, And Other Stakeholders.
