Job Description

The Laboratory technician I organizes and carries out specific details of experiments with cells and human samples. The Lab Tech also analyzes and interprets results, carrying tasks through completion. Assists with the completion of various research projects. Determines various characteristics of materials and subjects used in laboratory experiments, prepares reagents and experiment samples and may work with chemicals and animals. Makes corrective modifications in methodology and develops various procedures. Records results of research test and experiments and prepares detailed charts and reports of procedures. May review survey literature and summarize pertinent data. Establishes and maintains literary files. Assists in the preparation and/or editing of research manuals for publication.

Job Qualifications
  • At least one year of related research experience within a laboratory setting

  • Ability to keep accurate records of research performed to NIH standards

  • Demonstrated ability to perform standard molecular biology techniques, including Western Blot, and RT-PCR techniques
