Oversee the daily operations of the blood bank department, including scheduling and managing staff, organizing work flow, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and protocols.
Maintain a high level of accuracy and safety in all blood bank processes, including blood collection, testing, processing, and distribution.
Lead and train a team of medical technologists and technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate supply of blood products at all times, while also minimizing waste and reducing costs.
Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of blood bank services and timely delivery of blood products to patients.
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in blood bank technology, and implement best practices to improve processes and enhance patient care.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members, identifying areas for improvement and developing plans for professional development.
Handle any issues or complaints related to the blood bank department, and work towards finding solutions and implementing improvements to prevent future problems.
Maintain accurate and thorough records of all blood bank activities, including test results, inventory levels, and quality control measures.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology Or Related Field: A Group Leader - Medical Technology Blood Bank Should Have A Strong Foundation In Medical Technology And Its Principles. A Bachelor's Degree In This Field Will Ensure The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Effectively Lead And Manage A Blood Bank Team.
Prior Experience In A Blood Bank Setting: It Is Important For A Group Leader To Have Prior Experience In A Blood Bank Setting, Preferably In A Leadership Role. This Will Demonstrate The Candidate's Understanding Of The Operational And Technical Aspects Of A Blood Bank, As Well As Their Ability To Manage A Team And Handle Complex Situations.
Strong Leadership And Management Skills: As A Group Leader, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Overseeing A Team Of Medical Technologists And Ensuring The Smooth Functioning Of The Blood Bank. Therefore, It Is Essential For The Candidate To Possess Strong Leadership And Management Skills, Including The Ability To Effectively Communicate, Delegate Tasks, And Handle Conflicts.
Knowledge Of Regulatory Guidelines And Quality Control Measures: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Regulatory Guidelines And Quality Control Measures Related To Blood Banking. This Includes Knowledge Of Fda Regulations, Aabb Standards, And Other State And Federal Guidelines. This Will Ensure That The Blood Bank Is Compliant With All Necessary Regulations And Operates At The Highest Level Of Quality.
Excellent Technical And Analytical Skills: A Group Leader - Medical Technology Blood Bank Must Possess Strong Technical And Analytical Skills To Effectively Supervise The Laboratory Operations, Troubleshoot Any Technical Issues, And Analyze Data To Make Informed Decisions. These Skills Are Crucial In Maintaining The Accuracy And Quality Of Blood Products For Transfusion.
