Metallurgical Engineer

In this role, you would be responsible for a variety of testing and characterization techniques – many of which are not standard test methods but need to be developed for each material and cell design. Effectively work with Tesla teams, cell suppliers, and raw material suppliers to develop and implement testing and characterization methods to ensure material quality and to evaluate in-situ material performance when applied to ex-situ testing. Collaborate with vendors to address non-compliant parts and materials as well as developing new products or processing to enhance cell performance or reduce overall cost. Assist manufacturing teams with optimization of metallurgical processes which may include operations such as heat treating, joining, plating, rolling, or stamping operations. Conduct failure analysis as required.
