Senior/Lead Electrical Substation Design Engineer

At Tetra Tech, we are looking for an experienced Senior/Lead Electrical Substation Design Engineer who can take on new challenges and demonstrate a commitment to excellence. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to drive the design process for electrical substations from conception to completion. You will be responsible for developing detailed engineering designs, preparing drawings, calculations, and specifications, and ensuring projects are completed in accordance with safety, budget and schedule requirements. To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles and experience leading electrical substation projects. Required Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering • 8+ years of experience in electrical substation design• Demonstrated experience in electrical systems and protection & control• Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design software• Ability to work independently or as part of a team• Excellent problem-solving skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Professional Engineer license is preferred

Responsibilities:

1. Develop detailed engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications for electrical substation projects.
2. Ensure electrical substation projects are completed in accordance with safety, budget, and schedule requirements.
3. Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers working on the project.
4. Lead project teams and ensure successful delivery of projects.
5. Manage and coordinate the design process from conception to completion.
6. Analyze and evaluate electrical systems and protection & control systems.
7. Use AutoCAD and electrical design software to design and draft electrical substation designs.
8. Train and mentor junior engineers on electrical substation design principles.
9. Assist in the preparation of project bid proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
10. Investigate and resolve technical design issues.
11. Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
12. Monitor project progress and provide timely status updates to management.
13. Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with established safety guidelines.
14. Maintain professional licensure as required.
