  1. Process Payroll: The primary responsibility of the Payroll Accountant will be to accurately and efficiently process payroll for all employees at Texas State University. This includes calculating and verifying hours worked, calculating and deducting taxes and other withholdings, and issuing payments.
  2. Ensure Compliance: The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for staying up-to-date on all payroll regulations and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws. This includes maintaining proper documentation and records for audits and ensuring timely and accurate tax filings.
  3. Maintain Payroll Records: The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll records for all employees. This includes tracking employee information such as hours worked, benefits, and deductions.
  4. Provide Excellent Service: The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for providing excellent service to all employees, answering any questions or concerns they may have regarding their payroll. This individual should possess strong communication skills and be able to handle all inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  5. Collaborate with Team: As a member of the university community, the Payroll Accountant will collaborate with other team members to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of payroll processing. This includes working closely with HR and finance departments to resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise.
  6. Monitor Payroll System: The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for monitoring the payroll system and identifying any areas for improvement. This may include implementing new processes or procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  7. Train New Employees: As needed, the Payroll Accountant may be responsible for training new employees on payroll procedures and systems. This includes providing guidance and support to ensure new employees understand their payroll responsibilities.
  8. Maintain Confidentiality: The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all payroll information and records. This includes handling sensitive employee information with discretion and following all privacy laws and regulations.
  9. Participate in Professional Development: The Payroll Accountant will be encouraged to participate

Job Qualifications
