Job Description

The Bank of New York Mellon is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Counsel-Broker-Dealer to join our team. As the Counsel-Broker-Dealer, you will be responsible for providing counsel and guidance to our organization to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. You will also be a key contributor in providing legal advice and assistance with respect to the Bank’s activities in the broker-dealer space.We are looking for an individual with a strong background in broker-dealer law, regulation, and practice with strong business acumen. The ideal candidate will have superior verbal and written communication skills, the ability to effectively collaborate with different partners, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide counsel and guidance to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
  2. Provide legal advice and assistance with respect to the Bank’s activities in the broker-dealer space.
  3. Possess strong background in broker-dealer law, regulation, and practice.
  4. Possess superior verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Possess the ability to effectively collaborate with different partners.
  6. Possess the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  7. Possess the motivation and capability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  8. Monitor developments in broker-dealer law, regulations, and practice.
  9. Research and analyze legal issues related to broker-dealer activities.
  10. Draft and review legal documents and contracts.
