Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate PRN Outpatient Phlebotomist to join our dynamic team at The University of Kansas Health System. In this role, you will serve as the primary phlebotomist for outpatient services, including specimen collection, processing, and testing. You will be expected to maintain a high level of quality and accuracy while ensuring the safety of all patients.To be successful in this position, you must have a minimum of two years of phlebotomy experience in a hospital, laboratory, or clinic setting. You must also be certified in CPR and have a valid driver's license. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, multitasking when needed. Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the primary phlebotomist for outpatient services, including specimen collection, processing, and testing.
  2. Maintain a high level of quality and accuracy while ensuring the safety of all patients.
  3. Perform venipunctures, finger sticks, and other blood draws according to hospital protocol.
  4. Provide patient education regarding blood draws and other procedures.
  5. Document all specimens collected and laboratory results in the patient’s medical record.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with departmental standards.
  7. Participate in quality assurance processes to ensure accurate results.
  8. Respond promptly to requests from nursing staff, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare providers.
  9. Follow all safety guidelines and protocols established by the hospital.
  10. Adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling patient data.
