Job Description

The University of Kansas Health System is looking for a Specimen Processing Technician to join our exceptional laboratory team. This position will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of specimens and associated laboratory reports. The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, and be a team player.The successful candidate must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and be certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent. Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with an understanding of complex medical terminology.If you’re looking for an opportunity to join an exceptional laboratory team and have the necessary qualifications, we’d love to have you join us!

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure timely and accurate processing of specimens and associated laboratory reports.
  2. Maintain a high attention to detail and excellent organizational and communication skills.
  3. Work collaboratively with fellow laboratory team members and display a professional attitude.
  4. Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and be certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
  5. Have prior laboratory experience, if possible.
  6. Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with an understanding of complex medical terminology.
  7. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  8. Adhere to all laboratory protocols and policies.
  9. Ensure that all specimen and laboratory reports are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  10. Provide excellent customer service to all patients and other laboratory team members.
