Job Description

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is looking for an experienced and motivated Research Horticulturist to join our team. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in horticulture, plant science, or a related field, as well as at least five years of professional experience in horticulture and/or plant science. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticultural research and excel in a team-oriented environment. The Research Horticulturist will be expected to identify, develop, and apply new and innovative approaches to horticultural research. Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement innovative approaches to horticultural research.
  2. Monitor and analyze the results of horticultural research projects.
  3. Collaborate with other professionals to ensure successful completion of horticultural research projects.
  4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of horticultural research.
  5. Identify and address potential challenges related to horticultural research.
  6. Maintain a working knowledge of best practices in the field of horticulture.
  7. Participate in conferences and other educational events to stay abreast of developments in the field of horticulture.
  8. Provide timely and accurate reports to the supervisor or other relevant personnel.
  9. Cultivate relationships with other horticulturists and industry professionals.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
