Job Description

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is looking for a talented and motivated Research Plant Pathologist to join our team! As a Research Plant Pathologist, you will conduct research in the diagnosis, biology, epidemiology, and control of plant diseases. Our ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology or a related field of study, and significant experience in plant pathology research. Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement research plans to investigate the diagnosis, biology, epidemiology, and control of plant diseases.
  2. Utilize research methods, statistical methods, and computer models to analyze and interpret data.
  3. Publish findings of research in scientific journals and present at professional conferences.
  4. Collaborate with other scientists on joint research projects.
  5. Design and conduct experiments and field trials to evaluate potential plant disease control strategies.
  6. Develop strategies for prevention, control, and eradication of plant diseases.
  7. Provide technical advice and guidance to other scientists, stakeholders, and government agencies.
  8. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of current plant disease control strategies.
  9. Stay informed of advances in plant pathology research and techniques.
  10. Prepare and manage research budgets.
