Job Description

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking an experienced and motivated Sensory Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating the sensory characteristics of food products and developing methods to improve their quality. The ideal candidate should possess a deep knowledge of sensory science, as well as a passion for improving food product quality.We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in food science or a related field, preferably with experience in sensory evaluation and sensory panel management. The successful candidate should also have a strong understanding of statistical analysis techniques and their application to sensory data. An advanced degree in a related field is a plus. We are looking for someone with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently.This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly-skilled and motivated team in one of the most important areas in food science. Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate the sensory characteristics of food products and develop methods to improve their quality.
  2. Utilize statistical analysis techniques to analyze sensory data.
  3. Create sensory panels and manage sensory panels for testing.
  4. Prepare reports and presentations on the results of sensory testing.
  5. Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure food product quality.
  6. Develop and implement new methods for sensory testing and evaluation.
  7. Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in sensory science and food product quality.
  8. Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines in the laboratory.
  9. Maintain accurate records of sensory testing results.
  10. Assist in the training of new employees in sensory testing methods and procedures.
