Job Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce is looking for a dedicated and motivated IT Cybersecurity Specialist to join their team. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the security of the Department’s information and systems, and will be a key member of the security team. The ideal candidate should possess a combination of technical knowledge, problem solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members.To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field, along with 5+ years of experience in IT security, network security, or related areas. In addition, they must have a knowledge of security principles, cryptography, network technologies, operating systems, and authentication tools. Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement plans and procedures to ensure the security of the Department's information and systems.
  2. Monitor networks for security breaches and investigate suspicious activity.
  3. Deploy security solutions and technologies to protect information systems.
  4. Prepare and maintain comprehensive security documentation.
  5. Identify and analyze security risks and vulnerabilities.
  6. Evaluate and recommend security measures to mitigate security risks.
  7. Research and stay up to date with the latest security trends and threats.
  8. Collaborate with other teams to ensure the security of all systems.
  9. Respond to and investigate security incidents.
  10. Ensure compliance with all applicable security policies and regulations.
